16 Days of Action

North Ayrshire Child Protection Committee is working closely with North Ayrshire Violence Against Women Partnership to plan and facilitate a range of activities supporting the annual 16 Days of Action Opposing Violence Against Women.

Launch of White Ribbon Campaign and 16 Days of Action
25th November 2013 – 4.45p.m – 6.30 p.m – Rivergate Square
The event will be opened by Councillor Ruth Maguire, Chair of North Ayrshire’s Violence Against Women Partnership. There will be a White Ribbon projected down on to the Square in front of the Trinity Church. Male passers-by will be asked to put a handprint on our banner headed up ‘These Hands Are Not For Hurting’. A cup of soup will be given to participants. If you are attending, please bring a candle with you, if possible.

North Ayrshire Women’s Aid Conference
26th November 2013 – 9.30 a.m. – 4.00 p.m – Menzies Hotel, Irvine

White Ribbon Speaker Training
27th November 2013 – 9.30 a.m. – 4.30 p.m – Ardeer Neighbourhood Centre
Training on public speaking and highlighting issues of Violence Against Women. This training is being delivered to 5th and 6th year pupils giving them public speaking and presentation skills to take with them to the next steps in their career paths and to give them the knowledge and skills to inform their peers about the issues surrounding gender based violence. This training is now fully booked.

White Ribbon Campaign Stall in Irvine Mall on the following dates:

28th November 2013 – 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
29th November 2013 – 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
2nd December 2013 – 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
5th December 2013 – 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The stall will highlight the issues of Violence Against Women and encourage pledges to the White Ribbon Campaign. Please come along to the mall and support us.
